I love the old movies that featured Harryhausen effects. They took real skill. It's true that it was clear that his creatures were not real on the screen (unlike the computer generations that make you wonder where they found a thousand orcs to cast in a film) but they were wondrous, in the real sense of the word. They made you ask how it was done, and feel the magic of movies, where anything could happen.
